Other Techniques in the same attack group: Parting Wings, Hooking Wings, Thrusting Wedge, Snaking Talon, Twist of Fate, Blinding Sacrifice, Fatal Cross

The Defense:

  2. Without pause, pivot into a right forward bow stance as you execute a left overhead forearm and hammer-fist strike to the top of the attacker's arms to maintain a check.
  3. Again without pause, pivot counter-clockwise into a right neutral bow as your right hand (either as a back-knuckle or as a vertical fist) comes straight up your centerline to strike the attacker's forehead. During this step, you should be maintaining a check with your left arm.

  2. As your attacker is forced to plant his right foot to 4:30, bring your right elbow up the side of your body into a right upward elbow strike to his throat or face. Simultaneously with this, have your left hand drop below your waist to provide cover for your lower body.
  3. As soon as your right elbow strikes his face, rotate your right arm counter-clockwise so that the right fist is lower than the right elbow. This will close your centerline, and position you for further moves if he blocks your elbow strike.

Captured Twigs

Grasp of Death

The Attack: a right-handed head-lock from your left side.

Other Techniques in the same attack group: Locking Horns, Grip of Death

The Defense:

  1. As he pulls your head down, step forward with the right foot to 12:00 into a right close kneel, while your right hand grabs his right wrist and pulls down to let you breathe and your left hand simultaneously grabs and squeezes his right inner thigh.
  2. While maintaining the grab with your left hand, use your right hand to pull his right arm over your head and down in front of your chest, as your left foot c-steps (or circles) around his right foot so you are in a right neutral bow to 12:00.
  3. Bring your left arm around his right side and execute a left forearm strike to the back of his right elbow, shifting into a right forward bow as your right hand pulls his right wrist to your right hip. While maintaining the pressure with your left arm, execute a right vertical punch to the right side of his head.

The Attack: a right step-through overhead club from 12:00.

Other Techniques in the same attack group: Evading the Storm, Obstructing the Storm, Capturing the Storm

The Defense:

  2. Execute a left front kick to his groin, and plant to 10:30. Without pause, execute a right front kick to his right inner knee, and plant to 10:30 in a horse stance, as you deliver a right hand strike of some kind (back-knuckle, vertical side fist, heel-palm strike, etc.) to the left side of his head. At higher belt levels, the two kicks in this technique can be executed as a chicken kick.

  2. As you shift back into a right neutral bow, execute a right outward-downward elbow strike to his right jaw.

 Attacking Maces

The Defense:

  1. As the left foot steps back to 5:30 into a right front twist, the right hand does an inward-downward block (palm-down) to his right inner leg.
  2. Follow the momentum of your right inward-downward block by pivoting counter-clockwise into a left neutral bow to 6:00, and execute a right rear kick to 12:00 to his groin or bladder.

* Bonus Technique.

This technique is one of the techniques left out of the "24 Technique System" because it did not fit neatly into the teaching structure of the 24 system. Many schools still teach this technique so I've included it here.
